JAPANISM
At the origin of this photographic project lies Japan — or rather, Japan as it exists within Paris. I wanted to explore how a culture that has long fascinated and inspired the West continues to inhabit a city like Paris: how it takes shape, organizes itself, and is experienced. Like a journey that unfolds without departure, this series captures fragments of a living culture woven into the fabric of the French capital. To delve into “Japan in Paris” is to pause time — to embark on an initiatory journey between culinary and spiritual experiences, art and history, culture and nature. The city reveals itself as a constellation of places and moments where Japan is both present and suspended, alive yet timeless. Through this exploration, I sought to document not a distant elsewhere, but a form of proximity — a Japan that exists here, within our own urban geography. A Japan that awakens the senses, nourishes both body and mind, and quietly reminds us that every encounter with another culture is also a way of rediscovering our own.
