JAPAN IN PARIS
At the beginning of this photographic project, there is Japan, more precisely Japan in Paris. I wanted to show how a culture that has fascinated and inspired the West for centuries could exist in a city like Paris. To observe how it organizes itself, structures itself, and is consumed. So, like a journey, which is not one, I set out to capture the snapshots of a particularly rich and relatively old Japanese culture in our capital. Since as early as the late 19th century, Japan has already been the focus of interest for some philanthropic patrons, including Albert Kahn, who built a Japanese village in his garden in Boulogne. Delving into Japan in Paris is like stopping time. An initiatory journey, between culinary and spiritual experiences, art and history, culture and nature. The city is full of places and events dedicated to it. A Japan in Paris that is both alive and frozen, where the senses awaken, and the mind and body are nourished
